João Aguiar

João Casimiro Namorado de Aguiar ( born October 26, 1943 in Lisbon, † June 3, 2010 ) was a Portuguese writer.

Biography

Aguiar, who spent his childhood in his native city of Lisbon, and in Beira in Mozambique, studied post-school journalism at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. After his return to Portugal in 1976, he worked as a journalist for the public- service broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal. He also worked as a journalist and editor at the daily newspaper Diário de Notícias, A Luta, Diário Popular, O País and Sábado. In 1981 he joined the staff of the Press Department of the Ministry of Health.

As a writer, he devoted himself in his works, predominantly the former Portuguese colony of Macao, which he visited in the late 1980s for the first time.

Last João Aguiar 2008 O Priorado do Cifrão published a murder mystery parody of Dan Brown's worldwide success sacrilege. In addition, he was very popular as a YA author, series O Bando dos Quatro has well over 20 volumes.
