João Pedro Silva (triathlete)

João Pedro Silva ( born May 15, 1989 in Benedita ) is a Portuguese triathlete. He's U23 European champion in 2008, 2010 and 2011, as well as Portuguese junior champion in 2006 and 2007 and under-23 champion in 2008. During the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he was ninth.

Sporting career

Only 17 years old Silva won his first medals at the Junior World Championships. In the same year he was also the first time in elite competitions at the start and reached the top ten rankings. At the World Championship Series or World Series triathlon in Yokohama, he won gold in 2011 and 2012. During the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he was ninth.

In France Silva takes for the club Les Sables Vendee Tri in the prestigious Club Championship Series Grand Prix de Triathlon. At the Grand Final in Nice (16 September 2012), for example, Silva was in the Einzelwertunbg fourth and fought for his club to the stage and overall victory.

Currently, he is after five races in third place in the World Cup racing series in 2013, the ITU (as of July 9, 2013 ).

Silva studied at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa medicine.
