João Vieira is an island in the east of Bissagos archipelago. It lies off the coast of Guinea -Bissau in the Atlantic Ocean near the west coast of the northern half of Africa. The island is part of the sector Bubaque. The island is an important breeding area for sea turtles and the center of the Parque Nacional Marinho, João Vieira e Poilão. south of the island lies the small island of Maio, north of the island you Roxa and west Cavalos.
