Phoenix Coyotes (NHL since 2003) Arizona Sting ( NLL, since 2003)

The Jobing.com Arena (formerly Glendale Arena ) is a multi-purpose arena in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. It is the home stadium of the NHL teams Phoenix Coyotes and the Arizona Sting of the National Lacrosse League. The arena was completed in 2003 and cost a total of about 180 million U.S. dollars. The official capacity for hockey and Lacrosse games is 17,799.

Since 25 October 2006, the online society Jobing.com owns the naming rights to the arena, which has $ 30 million heavy contract a ten-year validity before the naming rights will revert to the city.

Use

In December 2003, the Coyotes moved from their previous home ground, the America West Arena (now U.S. Airways Center ) in the newly opened Glendale Arena. Main reason for the move was mainly the fact that the America West Arena, home of the NBA's Phoenix Suns, was designed primarily for the sport of basketball and the view from many places out was bad.

When the Coyotes were sold to Steve Ellman Group, construction began on a new hockey arena for the Coyotes. With two years of delay, the Glendale Arena on December 26, 2003, ie in the middle of the NHL season 2003/ 04, opened with the lacrosse game of the Arizona Sting against the Vancouver Ravens. The first NHL game was held the next evening, as the Coyotes defeated the Nashville Predators 3-1.

At the beginning of 2005, the unprecedented February Frenzy took place in the arena, merged a sporting event in the Arizona State High School, basketball, wrestling and cheerleading competitions in a mega event.
