Jocelyn Burdick

Jocelyn Burdick ( born February 6, 1922 in Fargo, North Dakota) was in 1992 for three months, U.S. Senator for the state of North Dakota. In this office she followed provisional Quentin N. Burdick her late husband.

After high school graduation in Fargo sat Jocelyn Burdick their education at Principia College in Elsah the (Illinois ) continued and eventually graduated in 1943 from Northwestern University. After that she worked as a radio announcer in Moorhead (Minnesota). From 1964 to 1982 she was involved in each case as a staff member at the Senate campaign of her husband. At the time of his death was Quentin Burdick, who belonged to the Democrats of North Dakota (North Dakota Democratic - NPL Party ), the incumbent senator with the third- longest tenure by Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd.

North Dakota Gov. George Sinner appointed Jocelyn Burdick after her husband's death on 8 September 1992 to his successor. She stayed from 16 September to 14 December of the same year in Congress; then they gave their mandate to the winning in the election Kent Conrad on. Jocelyn Burdick returned to Fargo. She was the first and so far only woman to North Dakota represented in Congress.
