Jocelyn Thibault

Jocelyn Thibault ( born January 12, 1975 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender, who works as goalkeeper coach for the Colorado Avalanche since 2009.

Career

Jocelyn Thibault was selected at the NHL Entry Draft by the Quebec Nordiques in 1993 in the first round at position ten. He had drawn attention to himself by outstanding achievement in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL. So in 1993 he got the awards for Most Valuable Player and for the lowest Gegentordurchschnitt. In addition, he was honored by the Canadian Hockey League as the best goalkeeper of the year. Thibault moved before the 1993/94 season to Quebec and graduated from the NHL season as a back-up goalie behind Stéphane Fiset and came 29 times used. In his second season he was number 2 behind Fiset. In the summer of 1995, the Quebec Nordiques moved to Denver and called themselves absofort Colorado Avalanche. Thibault played ten times in the season 1995/ 96 for the Avalanche and was then transferred to a transfer of business, together with Andrei Kovalenko and Martin Ručínský to the Montreal Canadiens. In the season 2006/ 07 Thibault was the back-up goalie Marc- André Fleury and came up 22 times.

In summer 2007, he signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Sabres, but after a season his contract was not renewed. Then Thibault ended his playing career.
