Jochen Kowalski

Jochen Kowalski ( born January 30, 1954 in Wachow at Nauen, East Germany ) is a German opera singer ( countertenor ).

Life

Jochen Kowalski grew up near Nauen, where in 1972 he graduated from high school took off. At first he was prop master at the Deutsche Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.

From 1977 to 1983 he studied voice at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler " in Berlin. After initial attempts as a tenor occurred in the last academic year, his training as a countertenor with Marianne Fischer- copper. During this time, Kowalski was engaged in the international Handel Festival 1982 in Halle ( Saale). After graduating, he joined the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin, largely funded by Harry Kupfer.
