Jochen Sachse

Jochen axis ( born October 2, 1948 in Frankenberg / Saxony ) is a former German athlete who - starting for DDR - belonged in the 1970s to the world's best hammer throwers.

Life

He was fifth in the 1969 European Championships. In 1970 he won the gold medal at the Universiade. The following year, he landed at the European Championships in seventh place. His greatest achievement is the silver medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.

Won silver axis also at the European Championships in 1974. During the Olympic Games in Montreal, he reached number six and at the European Championships in 1978 ninth. He was also 1971, 1972, 1975 and 1976 East German champion.

Jochen axis competed for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt and coached with Günter Gänseblumchen. He was 1.92 m tall in his playing days and weighed 112 kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents on doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of the axis.

He has a degree in Engineering of Thermal Engineering. After retiring in 1978, he became coach at SC Karl- Marx-Stadt. After the end of the GDR, he worked at a training institute in Leipzig.

In 1972 he was awarded for his performance at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
