Jock Clear

Jock Clear ( born September 12, 1963 in Portsmouth, Hampshire ) is a British motorsport engineer who is currently working for Mercedes GP.

Career

Clear studied until 1987 at the Heriot -Watt University in Edinburgh where he acquired a degree in mechanical engineering.

His career in motorsport began initially in 1988 as a designer at Lola before in Formula 1 in 1989 moved to Benetton, where he occupied the post of chief designer. 1992 Clear also worked as chief designer at Leyton House and moved the following year to Lotus, where he was in 1994 's race engineer Johnny Herbert.

After the decline of Lotus in 1995 he joined Williams and there was race engineer David Coulthard, who celebrated a Grand Prix victory of the season and the World Cup was third. In 1996, Jacques Villeneuve joined the team, Clear was his race engineer. Under Clears line Villeneuve in 1997 drivers 'world champion, Williams won the constructors' championship.
