The Blueberry Green Spanner ( Jodi putata ), sometimes also called Pale Green Blueberry tensioner, is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the tensioner ( Geometridae ).

Features

Butterfly

The wingspan is 17-21 mm. In newly hatched butterflies all wing tops are colored pale green, bluish green to pale. The green color elements can fade with increasing service life and then become yellowish to whitish shades. The white horizontal lines on the fore wings are clearly jagged and continue on the hind wings. On Analwinkel a small peak can be seen. While the antennae of the males are combed on both sides until just before the tip, those of the females are thready.

Caterpillar

Adults caterpillars are very slim and colored greenish. They show on the back of some great red-brown spots. The support provided by two sharp peaks head is brown border.

Doll

The Stürzpuppe is elongated and has a green color. The cremaster is light brown.

Similar Species

The deciduous forest green tensioner ( Jodi lactearia ) is characterized by the almost straight-running white horizontal lines on the upper wing.

Distribution and occurrence

The distribution of the species extends through large parts of central and northern Europe ( with the exception of the British Isles, the Iberian peninsula and the Balkans ) as well as further east through Siberia to Korea and Japan. The northernmost reaches of the Arctic Circle. In the Southern Alps, it rises up to 1600 meters. It is found predominantly in moist forests and bogs.

Way of life

The moths fly univoltine mainly in the months of May and June. They are diurnal, crepuscular and nocturnal, sometimes visit the flowers of alder ( alnus frangula ) and also fly to artificial light sources. Sometimes moths were observed in the absorption of liquid at waterholes. The caterpillars feed almost exclusively on the leaves of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus). The pupa overwinters attached to branches of the food plant.

Endangering

The Blueberry Green tensioner comes in Germany in different numbers before, but is not resident as rare and is out in some states in the Red List of endangered species on the early warning list.
