Joe Baca

Joseph N. "Joe" Baca ( born January 23, 1947 in Belen, New Mexico) is an American politician. From 1999 to 2013 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 2012 election, he defeated his Democratic Gloria Negrete McLeod a contestant.

Career

Joe Baca served 1966-1968 in the United States Army and then attended until 1971, the California State University in Los Angeles. He then worked for 15 years for electric and telephone company. He also began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1992 and 1999 he sat as a deputy in the California State Assembly; in 1999, he was a member of the Senate of California for some time.

After the death of Congressman George Brown Baca was at the due election for the 42 seats of California as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected, in which he moved on 16 November 1999 and was re-elected every two years until 2010.
