Joe Cortez

Joe Cortez ( born October 13, 1945 in New York City ) is an American- Puerto Rican boxing referee.

Cortez was a very good amateur boxer and winner of the Golden Gloves during his youth. During the 1960s, he went to Puerto Rico. For years, Cortez worked as a referee in professional boxing and has moved his main residence to Las Vegas. He is regarded as an outstanding expert of the scene, who supervised many world championship fights, which is why he was with Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011. His motto is " I am fair, but I am firm", so fair but firm rules.

In 2006 he played himself in the movie Rocky Balboa. Even in the movies I Spy and Knocked Out - A powerful friendship he had supporting roles in each case as a referee.
