Joe Flanigan
Joe Flanigan ( born January 5, 1967 Born in Los Angeles as Joseph Harold Dunnigan III ) is an American actor.

Joe Flanigan was adopted by his stepfather. When he was six years old, he moved with his family to the small Holcomb Ranch Lane on the outskirts of Reno ( Nevada). At the age of 14 he attended a boarding school in Ojai, where he made his first experiences as a theater actor in a school play. He played Stanley Kowalski from the play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. After that, he began studying at the University of Colorado with a major in history, which he finished successfully. Here he played the title role in the play Coriolanus by William Shakespeare.
After Flanigan spent at college for a year, he used the opportunity to spend part of the " Junior Year Abroad Program " part of his studies in Paris. Then he worked in a series of odd jobs (for example, in banking or politics ), but never satisfied him. He was fired from Interview Magazine during this time and decided to move to New York City. His neighbor in New York was an actor and encouraged him to get a foothold in this industry. So he began to study at the prestigious drama school Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.
His first acting experience then made Flanigan in commercials. His television debut was in 1994, however, in a starring role in the Emmy nominated with NBC mini-series " Family Album " of writer Danielle Steel.
Flanigan had guest roles in many TV series such as Profiler, First Monday, and Sisters, to his breakthrough with the role of Major / Lt. Succeeded Colonel John Sheppard in Stargate Atlantis. For the series he also wrote the screenplays for the Epiphany sequence from the second and Outcast of the fourth season.

Family
1996 married Joe Flanigan actress and painter Katherine Kousi, with whom he now has three sons.
Due to the filming of the series Stargate Atlantis Flanigan moved with his family from Malibu, California to Vancouver in Canada. After the shooting, they moved back to Los Angeles, California.
