Joe Grant

Joe Grant ( born May 15, 1908 in New York City; † 6 May, 2005 Glendale, California ) was an American comic book writer, who was primarily responsible for a lot of scripts of the Disney animated films.

Education and work

After training at the Chouinard Art Institute Grant worked as a caricaturist for the American newspaper Los Angeles Record, which appeared in LA 1895-1933. Walt Disney discovered the young Grant and asked him for the 1933 appearing Mickey Mouse cartoon " Mickey's big show " (English Mickey's Gala Premiere ) to develop characters. After further orders as a freelancer for Disney, Joe Grant got while working on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs " (1937 ) The offering of Disney, future " Character Model Department " to work wholeheartedly for the specially created. Only in 1949, after the dissolution of the Department, Grant left the company and founded several successful companies, including a porcelain factory ( Opechee design), as well as a company for greeting postcard ( Castle Ltd. ). 1989 Grant returned back to the development of film "Beauty and the Beast" at Disney and worked there until his death. In 1992 he received the Disney Legends Award for his achievements. Grant died on 6 May 2005 concerning the character table of a heart attack.
