Joe Hendricks

Joseph Edward "Joe" Hendricks (* September 24, 1903 in Lake Butler, Florida, † October 20, 1974 in Lakeland, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1937 and 1949 he represented the state of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Joe Hendricks attended the common schools and then studied until 1930 at the Stetson University. After a subsequent law studies at this University and its made ​​in 1934 admitted to the bar he began in DeLand to work in his new profession. At that time he was also counsel for the tax authorities of the State of Florida. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1936 he was in the fifth electoral district of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William J. Sears on January 3, 1937. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1949 six legislative periods. There, until 1941, further New Deal legislation of the Federal Government were adopted. 1948 renounced Hendricks on another Congress candidate. After his retirement from the House of Representatives, he was president of the company Hendricks Homes Inc. He was also Chairman of the Planning Committee of the city of Plant City. He also served on the planning committee in Hillsborough County. He died on October 20, 1974 in Lakeland.
