Joe James (racing driver)

Joseph "Joe" James (* May 23, 1925 in Saucier, Mississippi, † November 5, 1952 in San Jose, California ) was an American race car driver.

Career

James started 1950-1952 in 24 races for AAA National Series. He scored his best result in 1951 on the Centennial Park Circuit in Denver as the fourth.

In the 500 miles of Indianapolis, he was twice at the start. After failing to qualify in 1950, he resigned in 1951 on a Watson- Offenhauser in the eighth round with a damage to the drive shaft. 1952, this time on a 4000 Kurtis Kraft - Offenhauser, he reached the same lap as the winner Troy Ruttman 13th place.

James was killed in November 1952 at the AAA National Series races in San Jose fatal.
