Joe Kelly (racing driver)

Joseph "Joe" Kelly ( born March 13, 1913 in Dublin, † November 28, 1993 in Neston, England) was an Irish race car driver and dealers. 1950 and 1951 he took part in the Grand Prix of Great Britain Formula 1.

His first big race played Kelly in his private GP Alta, it was the BRDC International Trophy 1949., Not least because of its inferior vehicle, it was only as Twentieth Penultimate and thus the goal.

1950 and 1951 he played - also in the Alta GP - Grand Prix of Great Britain. Both times was Kelly so inferior that he was not out in the final standings because he crossed the finish line with too many laps down. A remarkable result he obtained in 1952 with the third place at the Ulster Trophy in Dundrod; However, this race was not part of the championship. Kelly was the first Irish Grand Prix participants in the story.

After a serious accident at Oulton Park in 1955 Kelly ended his racing career and took from now on only occasionally participate in mountain and sports car racing.

Full-time Kelly worked as car dealers in Ireland and England.
