Joe Mondragon

Joseph "Joe" Mondragon ( born February 2, 1920 in Los Angeles, California) is an American bassist of modern jazz.

Joe Mondragon played at the beginning of his career with Woody Herman in 1946, also with Boyd Raeburn, Bob Gordon and Charlie Barnet. He was in the 1950s with Monty Budwig and Carson Smith one of the most sought after freelance bass player on the American West Coast. He played among other things with Georgie Auld, Chet Baker, Bob Cooper, Buddy DeFranco, Harry Sweets Edison, Ella Fitzgerald, Shelly Manne, Gerry Mulligan, Marty Paich, Art Pepper, Buddy Rich, Shorty Rogers and Bud Shank.
