Joe Nickell

Joe Nickell ( born December 1, 1944) is an art historian who was best known for his investigation of paranormal phenomena.

Life and work

Nickell studied at the University of Kentucky and earned Bachelor, Master and PhD in art history. He trained as a magician (three years at the Houdini Magical Hall of Fame ) and worked as Privatdektiv for a known agency. He taught for several years Technical writing at the University of Kentucky before 1995 full- boarding at the CSICOP.

He works as a research consultant in historical questions. Nickell is a member of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI, formerly CSICOP ) and columnist for the Skeptical Inquirer science magazine U.S.. He also published in The New Yorker and appeared on the Today show ( NBC). He unmasked the alleged diary of Jack the Ripper as a forgery.

In 2002 he was one of the examined by several experts on behalf of the literary scholar Henry Louis Gates, the authenticity of the manuscript of Hannah Crafts ' The Bond Woman's Narrative " ( 1853 to 1860 ) as possibly the first novel of an African - American woman in the United States.

In addition to his work as a historian Nickell is a poet. During his college years he began to write poems, but decided not to pursue this train professionally.
