Joe Penny
Joe Penny (* June 24, 1956 in London, England), is an American actor.
Life
His most famous role is that of the private eye Nick Ryder in the series Riptide ( 1983-1986). This success he could with the role of the investigator Jake Styles in the series Jake and McCabe - Through thick and thin build (1987-1992).
Penny is Italian - British origin. The son of a U.S. Air Force pilot and later headmaster, he grew up in different states of the USA. At 18, he received a football scholarship, but decided to become an actor. He also served as a student of Lee Strasberg and appeared initially in small theaters.
In 1977 he got his first television role in The Nancy Drew Mysteries. A first breakthrough came in 1981 with the series The Gangster Chronicles, in which he played the gangster Bugsy Siegel. A film version was titled Gangster Wars.
Penny has guest starred in many television series such as Lou Grant, Matlock, Diagnosis Murder, Boomtown or The Sopranos and made more than 40 television and some movies. In 2001 he hosted with Alexandra Cousteau, granddaughter of Jacques -Yves Cousteau, 65 episodes of the series Science Scope. Since 2004 he is the successful Jane Doe Mystery Movies Hallmark Channel in front of the camera.
Penny, who also makes rock music and writes her own songs, lives in Los Angeles.
