Joseph Patrick " Joe" Rooney ( born August 28, 1898 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, † March 1979) was an US- American football player. He played as a tackle and end in the National Football League ( NFL). Rooney and his two brothers Cobb and Bill played in the years 1924 and 1927 at the same time for the Duluth Kelleys / Eskimos. They are the only three brothers who aufliefen at the same time for the same football team in the NFL.

Playing career

Joe Rooney grew up with his brothers and Bill Cobb on in Virginia, Minnesota. They visited the high school there. Joe and his brother Bill played on the high school basketball and in 1915 elected to the State selection. His brother Bill was able to repeat this success in 1916.

In 1923, Joe Rooney Football pro at the Duluth Kelleys, who were coached by Joey Sternaman. The team from Duluth was in possession of their players. His brother Bill joined in the same year the team a year later came also Cobb to the team. From 1924, the team was coached by Dewey Scanlon, who served at the same time as a manager.
