Joe Sentieri

Joe Sentieri (actually Rino Luigi Sentieri; born March 3, 1925 in Genoa, † 27 March 2007 in Pescara ) was an Italian pop singer and actor.

Biography

He had his first success in 1959 in the music program Canzonissima with his interpretation of the song Piove ( Ciao, ciao bambina ), with Domenico Modugno in the same year had a number 1 hit. Ritroviamoci and Milioni di scintille reached No. 2 in 1959 and # 5 on the charts. In 1960 he finished with Quando vien la sera 3rd place in the San Remo Festival. In the Italian charts the song rose to number 2 was another top 10 success there with the song E ' mezzanotte, which came in at number 8.

His internationally best-known song is Uno Dei Tanti. The Carlo and Giulio Rapetti Donida composed (also known as Mogol ) Factory came out in 1961. 1963 Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote to an English text. Under the Title I (Who have nothing ), the song was a worldwide hit and times gecovert over 30, including Tom Jones, Gladys Knight, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Ben E. King, Sylvester James, Luther Vandross and Shirley Bassey.

Other songs that could be placed in the Italian hit parade, were Libellule (1961 ), Lei ( 1961), Cipria di sole (1962), Tobia (1962), fermata il mondo (1963) and Quando ci si vuol bene ... (come noi ) ( 1963).

In the 1960s and 1970s Sentieri was seen in some movies, including Urlatori alla sbarra (1960 ) by Adriano Celentano and Mina ( Director: Lucio Fulci ) and legal and Passion (1970 ) with Ornella Muti (directed by Damiano Damiani ).

On 27 March 2007, he died at the age of 82 of a cerebral hemorrhage in the hospital Santo Spirito in Pescara.
