Joe Spano

Joe Spano (* July 7, 1946 in San Francisco, California) is an American actor. He achieved fame by his nominated for an Emmy role in the U.S. television series Hill Street Blues and as FBI Special Agent Tobias Fornell in NCIS.

Life

Joe Spano was the son of Virginia Jean (nee Carpenter) and Vincent Dante Spano, a physicist, born in San Francisco in the U.S. state of California. He attended Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Spano is usually watch in guest roles of various television series and in smaller film roles. Among his major series roles include the role of Detective Henry gold flower in the television series Hill Street Blues from 1981 to 1987. In 1989 he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Guest Actor for his role as John Saringo in the drama series Midnight Caller. Since 2003 he plays the recurring role of FBI Agent Tobias Fornell in the crime series NCIS.

With his wife Joan, a therapist, he adopted two girls.
