Joe Tex

Joe Tex ( born August 8, 1933, Rogers, Texas; † August 13, 1982 in Navasota, Texas), actually Joseph Arrington Jr., later Joseph Hazziez, was an American soul singer. His greatest successes came during the 1960s and 1970s.

The songs of Joe Tex were easy to understand soul songs. He had his breakthrough in 1965 with the single Hold What You've Got, with whom he reached # 5 on the U.S. Billboard charts. His biggest hit in the United States, he landed in 1972 with the single I Gotcha, which rose to # 2 on the pop charts and also in Germany was a Top 40 success.

The only hit in the UK was the single Is not Gonna Bump No More ( With No Big Fat Woman) from 1977, which reached number 2 there. In the U.S., the song came to number 12, 25 in Germany to rank

His song Baby You're Right was covered by James Brown.

At the height of his career in 1972 converted to Islam and Tex took the name Joseph Hazziez.
