Joe Turkel

Joe Turkel ( born July 15, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York ) is an American actor.

Life

Turkel began his career in 1949 with a non- Credited small supporting role in the thriller The spawn of Satan. In the 1950s and 1960s, he had numerous film roles, but they were mostly so subordinate that his name was not mentioned in most cases in the credits. He has appeared in feature films by William Wyler, Robert Wise and Stanley Kubrick. From the latter he received the role of the bartender Lloyd in The Shining, by which he became known to a wider audience for the first time in 1980. Two years later he had in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner as CEO Tyrell another major supporting role. In 1990, he was seen in the science fiction horror film The Dark Side of the Moon in one of the lead roles.

Since the 1950s, Turkel also appeared as a guest star in TV series on, including Bonanza, The Chief, Kojak - Kojak and Miami Vice.
