Joe Walsh

Joe Walsh (Joseph Fidler Walsh; born November 20, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American rock guitarist. He is considered an influential slide guitarist.

Life

While Walsh studied at Kent State University, oboe and clarinet, he played in various local bands, first bass and later guitar.

In 1969, he came as the lead guitarist for the James Gang to first awareness. The James Gang had several small successes and produced four LPs.

1971 Walsh left the band to pursue a solo career. His first solo works, Barnstorm 1972 and the successor to The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get 1973 cemented his status as a rock musician. His distinctive voice helped that he was able to establish itself as a solo artist. His dry humor found their way into his songs. Several titles of these albums, including Rocky Mountain Way, were frequently played on the radio and are still popular examples of the classic rock genre.

After another studio and one live album, Walsh was invited in 1976 to join the Eagles, where he replaced the departing guitarist Bernie Leadon. He led there a real hard sound and was heavily responsible for the style of their very successful album Hotel California. The guitar solo of the theme song by Don Felder and Joe Walsh was elected in 1998 by Guitarist magazine as the best solo of all time, and in 1998 by Guitar magazine ranked eight of the Top 100 Guitar Solos.

When the Eagles a few years later went to meet its end, Walsh began again to work alone. His two LPs But Seriously Folks (1978) and There Goes The Neighborhood (1981 ) sold well. During the 1980s, he recorded more albums, but went musical trends past him.

1990 Walsh toured with Jeff Baxter ( Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers ), John Entwistle ( The Who ), Keith Emerson ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer ) and the profiled studio drummer Simon Phillips under the band name The Best of Hawaii and Japan. An album of this occupation did not materialize.

On October 18, 1991 Joe Walsh joined the World Exhibition Expo 92 in Seville (Spain ) along with Steve Vai, Brian May, Joe Satriani and others in the concert series Las Leyendas De La Guitarra on.

Until the reunification of the Eagles and a joint concert tour in the late 1990s, then you saw and heard little of him.

Due to its versatility on acoustic and electric guitar Joe Walsh was gladly seen as supporting or solo guitarist Whether performing other artists. He participated in recordings and live performances, including Ringo Starr, Dan Fogelberg, Nicky Hopkins and Steve Winwood. He also appeared briefly in the movie The Blues Brothers.

He also works as a radio amateur ( callsign WB6ACU ).
