Joel Silver

Joel Silver (* July 14, 1952 in South Orange, New Jersey) is a successful American film producer. He became known through action-packed Hollywood blockbusters such as Predator, Die Hard, the Lethal Weapon series and the Matrix trilogy.

Life and career

Silver grew up in his hometown of South Orange on in the state of New Jersey. He attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, where he distinguished himself mainly through the co- invention of the sport Ultimate. In 1970 he enrolled at Lafayette College, and later he attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

His first job at Lawrence Gordon Pictures, where he had his producer debut with the action film The Warriors (1979). He quickly rose to become the president of the film department of the company, films such as 48 Hrs and Streets of Fire followed.

In 1985 he founded his own company, Silver Pictures and produced a number of successful blockbusters, including the Lethal Weapon series, the first two Die Hard episodes and later the highly successful Matrix trilogy since the early 80s. However, he lay down frequently with powerful studio bosses, remained so that he has failed to work for certain studios and he was not allowed to produce some sequels your own movies.
