Joensuu sub-region

The administrative community Joensuu (Finnish Joensuun seutukunta ) is one of three administrative Communities ( seutukunta ) of the Finnish North Karelia landscape and comprises about 115,000 inhabitants. It includes the following seven cities and towns:

• Ilomantsi
• Joensuu
• Juuka
• Kontiolahti
• Liperi
• Outokumpu
• Polvijärvi

Since 1 January 2005 the municipalities Tuupovaara and Kiihtelysvaara belong to the city of Joensuu and are thus not listed independently. On 1 January 2009 the municipalities of Eno and Pyhäselkä were incorporated into the city of Joensuu. At the beginning of 2010, the municipality Juuka changed from the administrative community Pielinen Karelia Joensuu.
