Joey Cape

Joey Cape ( born November 16, 1966 in Santa Barbara, California as Randal Joseph Cape) is the lead singer of American punk bands Lagwagon, Bad Astronaut and Afterburner, guitarist of the group Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, as well as guitarist and singer of the band The Playing favorites.

Bad Astronaut are, however, no longer continue to exist after the suicide of drummer Derrick Plourde according to a statement by Joey Cape. On 14 November 2006, the third and final studio work entitled Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment was released, which was mostly recorded before the death Plourdes. Due to the friendly relationship capes and Plourdes but the singer sees no reason to continue to operate the project, and would like to conclude the chapter Bad Astronaut with this last album.

Furthermore, his musical work includes a split CD with Tony Sly, the frontman of No Use for a Name, interpreted on the each of the two singers five songs of each band new. In addition, both have however also added a completely new, unknown song. Joey Capes previously unreleased song named Violet, and was originally intended as a proposal of marriage to his wife. However, this thought dismissed the singer as him to corny and pathetic appeared the idea to make a marriage proposal with a song.

On the sampler Protect, which is published on Fat Wreck Chords, is also minus a previously unreleased song by Joey Cape to find.

In 2000, Cape founded his own label, MyRecords, but which turned out to be unprofitable and was closed again in 2004.

In 2006, Cape along with Todd Capps the Bad Astronaut follow- band Afterburner.

Since 2007 he is a member of the indie rock band The Playing Favorites.

In 2008 he released his first solo album. Bridge is stylistically the solo project, the Cape recorded with Tony Sly, close, but it does not contain any cover versions of Lagwagon songs. Conversely published Lagwagon some of the songs from Bridge on the EP I think my older brother used to listen to Lagwagon.

In May 2011 he announced that he has formed a new band called Joey Cape 's Bad Loud and recorded an album. This includes mainly songs from his two solo albums.

Joey Cape is married and has one daughter. He lives in Fresno.
