Joey Molland

Joey Molland ( born June 21, 1947 in Liverpool, actually Joseph Charles Molland ) is a British rock musician who was best known as the singer and guitarist for Badfinger.

Already with five or six years Molland began on the piano to work out the chords and play them. When he first heard Elvis Presley's eleven years old version of rock ' n' roll classic Blue Suede Shoes, he then took the guitar of his brother and began to replay the piece.

As a teenager he played in his first band, called The Assassins. After a few months, the band split again and The Profiles followed. In this time he met Pete Wiggins know by which he finally came to in a Liverpool Pub for the first time to perform live. With the Profiles he played there for about seven months, preferably Chuck Berry songs, earning his money.

After this band had split, he joined the masterminds of the 1965 Andrew Loog Oldham took up a Bob Dylan song. After the masterminds came The Merseybeats, The Fruit Eating Bears, The Cryings Shames and Gary Walker & the Rain, 1968 until he finally met the Ivey, who had just signed to Apple Records. After its name change to Badfinger and the resignation of Ron Griffiths 1969 Molland joined the band. He is first heard on the 1970 album No Dice.

In November 1974 he left Badfinger and joined with Mark Clarke, the former bassist of Uriah Heep and Colosseum, drummer Jerry Shirley, who had previously played with Humble Pie, and Peter Wood, the ex - keyboardist of Sutherland Brothers & Quiver, to the supergroup Natural gas. The band released only one album, produced by Felix Pappalardi Natural Gas in 1976, although there were two line-up changes. In 1979, Molland and Tom Evans reported back as Badfinger and brought out the albums Airwaves (1979) and Say No More (1981). After that, it remained a long time silent around Molland, until in 1992 he reported back with the album Pilgrim. 1999 appeared the album Battle, can be heard on the various demos from 1972 to 1999. 2001 release another solo album Molland: This Way Up.
