Joey Santiago

Joey Santiago ( born June 11, 1965 in Manila, full name: Joseph Alberto Santiago ) is an American musician Philippine ancestry. He is the guitarist of the Pixies and The Martinis.

Life

Joey Santiago was born in Manila, but came at the age of seven years with his family from the Philippines to Yonkers, New York. He grew up mostly on in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where he attended high school. At the University of Massachusetts in 1986, he met Charles Thompson know, who later called himself Black Francis, and decided to start with him a band. The resulting Pixies existed until 1993 and released five albums. After the dissolution of the Pixies, he first played lead guitar on some solo albums by Black Francis, but 1995 co-founded with his wife, Linda Mallari, the band The Martinis, who published an album and an EP in 2004. In the 1990s and 2000s Santiago worked as a composer for film and television productions. In 2004 there was a reunion of the Pixies in the old composition. The band played many concerts since then, and plans to release a new album in 2010.
