Johan Bojer

Johan Boii ( born March 6, 1872 in Orkdal near Trondheim, † July 3, 1959 in Oslo) was a Norwegian writer.

Life

Johan Kristoffer Boii is as Johan Kristoffer Hansen as an illegitimate child of the maid Johanne Elgåen and trading Assessors Hans Boii ( Boii? ) Born. He grew up as a foster child in the family Fætten in Rissa. As a teenager he worked as a farmer and fisherman, and later as a sales representative, fish buyer, clerk and bookkeeper.

1893 published his first literary text Boii, Unge tanks, but still under the name Johan K. Hansson. The last name of the father, he takes after his death in 1894. His father leaves him a small inheritance, 1895 continues with the Boii to Paris, where he lives with interruptions, until 1915. Here he met his famous countryman Knut Hamsun and Strindberg that his decision to work full-time as a writer, are likely to have significantly affected.

1899 married Johan Boii Ellen Lous Lange. The marriage arise three children: Torah (* 1902), Randi (* 1903) and Halvard (* 1905). From 1919 Johan Boii living as a freelance writer at his country house near Oslo. Here he died on July 3, 1959.
