Johan Davidsson

Johan Davidsson ( born January 6, 1976 in Jönköping ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who since 2001 has been with HV71 in Elitserien under contract.

Career

Johan Davidsson began his career in 1992 in his hometown at the Swedish first division club HV71. In the 1992/93 season, he gained his first experience in the Elitserien and was promoted in the following years to a regular player in Jönköping. During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in the second round to 28th position of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In the season 1994/95 he won with Jönköping first time in his career, the Swedish Championship. 1997 Davidsson was obliged by HIFK Helsinki of the Finnish SM- liiga, with whom he won the Finnish championship in his only season. Following him, the immediate jump came in the NHL squad Mighty Ducks and came during the season regularly used, although its position with players like Steve Rucchin, Travis Green and Matt Cullen was heavily occupied. His second season in Anaheim was less successful, and the Swede played mainly in the farm team for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League. On 11 March 2000, the Californians gave him in a transfer business in common with a performance-based franchise in the NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Jörgen Jönsson 2001 to the New York Islanders from. For the Islanders Davidsson completed 14 matches and scored six points, before his expiring contract was not renewed after the season.

In September 2000, he signed as a free agent contract with the Vancouver Canucks, for whom he never played, however, and instead returned to Europe. His next season was completed by the Swede in the Finnish SM- liiga with the Espoo Blues. For the season 2001 /02 he returned to his homeland to HV71. From the following season, he held the position of team captain. 2004, 2008 and 2010, he won with Jönköping three more times, the Swedish Championship. During this time, Davidsson was also elected several times into the All- Star team the Elitserien, honored in 2004 with the Guldpucken and 2009 with the Guldhjälmen as the best player of the year.

Internationally

Davidsson represented his country at the World Championships in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007. Doing so, he won the 2003 and 2004 silver medal with the Swedish selection. At youth level, he represented the Swedish national team at the Junior World Championships in 1994, 1995 and 1996 and the U18 European Championships in 1993 and 1994.
