Johan Leysen

Johan Leysen ( born February 19, 1950 in Hasselt ) is a Flemish stage and film actor. His father Bert Leysen was the founding director of the then Flemish public broadcaster BRT.

Life

Johan Leysen studied from 1974 at the Studio Herman Teirlinck, a drama school. His theatrical career began at various Dutch theaters. A role in Jean -Luc Godard's Mary and Joseph led him in 1983 to move to France. It was followed by numerous film roles mostly in French productions, but also in various international. In addition, he remained faithful to the theater.

He was honored at the Montréal World Film Festival for his role in Radu Mihaileanu Trahir for Best Actor in 1993; In 1997 he was nominated for his role in Tralievader Gouden Kalf for best actor, but came away empty; In 1998, he finally received this award for the leading role in the Dutch production Felice ...
