Johan Petter Johansson

Johan Petter Johansson ( born December 12, 1853 in Vårgårda; † August 25, 1943 ) was a Swedish inventor and industrialist. He invented a modern Englishman (available on May 11, 1892 patent on these Englishmen ) and reported a total of 100 patents.

Johansson worked as an assistant at a steam engine to a local peat factory. In 1873 he left his birthplace Vårgårda to work in Motala as an engineer. After his military service, he moved to Eskilstuna in 1874 and worked for Munktells. In 1878 he took a job in Västerås in a mechanical workshop. After that he worked as a blacksmith on a nearby farm.

Around this time, he decided to emigrate to the United States, he never followed it. Instead, he accepted an offer for a better job with his former employer Munktells.

In 1886 he founded the Enköpings Mekaniska Verkstad ( Mechanical workshop Enköping ), which quickly became a successful company. During his time in the workshop, he invented the English and the pipe wrench. From 1890 drove the B. A. Hjort & Company its tools under the brand Bahco. To date, over 100 million pipe wrenches were made.

1916 handed Johansson, the company his son, Hannes Brynge. This experimented with electric tools and opened in 1919 a new factory in the electrical pendulum and various other devices were produced.
