Johan Wikmanson

Johan Wikmansson (also John Wickmanson; * December 28, 1753 in Stockholm, † January 10, 1800 ) was a Swedish composer.

Wickmannsson, who had already received as a child piano lessons, studied mathematics in Copenhagen and took a civil service job in 1772 at Stockholm. He then took lessons with Abbé Vogler and Joseph Martin Kraus and was organist at the Dutch Reformed Church. Since 1781 he was organist at the Storkyrkan, since 1797 he has taught at the Royal Academy of Music.

He composed a Menuetto allegro for orchestra, five string quartets, two piano sonatas, Sonatinas for the zither, solo pieces for cello, songs (including texts by Carl Michael Bellman and Anna Maria Lenngren ) and incidental music.
