Johann Adam Heckel

Johann Adam Heckel (* July 14, 1812 in Adorf / Vogtland, † April 13, 1877 in Biebrich ) was a German maker of musical instruments.

Heckel reformed in 1830 the design of the bassoon. In 1831 he founded, together with Carl Almenräder the company Almenräder and Heckel, the predecessor entity to Wilhelm Heckel GmbH. They developed the Heckel bassoon Almenräder. Heckel's son William later invented the Heckelphone.
