Johann Andreas Silbermann

Johann Andreas Silbermann (* June 26, 1712 in Strasbourg, † February 11, 1783 ) was an Alsatian organ builder.

Life

Silbermann is the son of Alsace, coming from Saxony Andreas Silbermann organ builder and the nephew of Gottfried Silbermann, who also built in Saxony with success organs. The organ builder Johann Daniel Silbermann and Johann Heinrich Silbermann are his brothers.

When his father died on March 16, 1734, put Silbermann with the consent of the city of his father's work and became his successor. From Silbermann, roughly 40 organs in Arlesheim, Colmar, Strasbourg, Molsheim, semolina, etc. In 1775 he published a history of the city of Strasbourg.

Johann Balthasar Ferdinand step fur was employed by him as a journeyman.

At the age of 71 years Johann Andreas Silbermann died in Strasbourg.
