Johann Baal

Johann Baal (also Father Marianus Baal ) (* December 18, 1657 in Carlstadt, † 1701) was a German composer of the Baroque.

Life and work

The first mention Johann was Baal, son of a long-established Sattler family when he was about twenty years old was hired as an organist and composer at the court of the Prince-Bishop of Bamberg. In 1685 he gave up this position to enter the monastery when Father Marianus Muensterschwarzach. From the compositional output of Baal, little is preserved since no work has been handed down as pressure. As his most important work is considered handed down a " fair in A" by Johann Sebastian Bach ( Kyrie ) and Johann Gottfried Walther ( Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei ) were copied by hand.
