Johann Baptist Georg Neruda

Johann Baptist Georg Neruda (* 1707 in Prague, † 1780 in Dresden) was a Bohemian violinist, conductor and composer of the pre-classical period.

After his training, in Prague, he first played in the local theater orchestra. He reached an increasing recognition as a violinist and conductor, he earned while on tour. From 1741 first demonstrated in Dresden, he was first violinist in 1750, later he was until his retirement in 1772 concertmaster of the Dresden court orchestra.

He composed 18 symphonies, 10 violin concertos, 1 Bassoon Concerto, 34 trio sonatas, various dances, 2 church cantatas and the opera " Les Troqueurs ". His best-known work today, the Concerto for Trumpet, Strings and Basso Continuo in E flat major was originally written for Corno da caccia. The only published during his lifetime in print compositions, Six Trio Sonatas for Two Violins and Bass, 1764 by Breitkopf & Härtel in Leipzig.
