Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer

Johann Caspar ( Ferdinand ) Fischer ( baptized June 18, 1662 in Ostrov (now Ostrov ); † August 27, 1746 in Rastatt ) was a German composer and musician.

Life

JCF Fischer spent his youth in Schlackenwerth and learned as a student of the local Piarist College the basics of his musical education. It is speculated that Fischer could have studied in Paris with Jean -Baptiste Lully. This assumption is based only on his orchestral work, which is characterized by the influence of Lully, there is no evidence for an actual visit to Paris. After all, Fischer brought many typical French elements into his music.

1695 appeared in Kroninger in Augsburg the first opus Fischer, Le journal du printemps. It is dedicated to the Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden, the employer of the composer. The magnificent orchestral work reflects the splendor of life at court. Among his major compositions is one of the Furthermore, Ariadne Musica, a collection of preludes and fugues in 20 different keys for organ, which can be regarded as a precursor of Johann Sebastian Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier. Bach's son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach wrote in 1775 to Johann Nicolaus Forkel that his father JS Bach among many others, " the works of (...) the Badensche Capellmeister Fischer ( ... ) loved and studied " have.

1715 is the first time the musical activity and activity of a court Kapellmeister at the court of the Margrave in Rastatt detectable. This conductor was a fisherman. As a result of fishing was over 30 years, until his death in 1746, employed on the farm, experienced three regents and shaped the musical life there crucial.

JCF Fischer brought many French influences in the German music of the time and therefore counts despite the sparse traditional biographical data on the influential German composer for keyboard instruments from the 17th and early 18th century.
