Johann Christian Friedrich Tuch
Johann Christian Friedrich cloth ( born December 17, 1806 Quedlinburg, † April 12, 1867 in Leipzig ) was a German Orientalist, theologian and rector of the University of Leipzig.
Life
Cloth studied in Halle, where he was a lecturer in philosophy in 1830. He was inducted in 1840 in the Masonic Lodge to three swords in Halle. In 1841 he went to Leipzig as professor of theology, canon and later Churches. As a representative of the University of Leipzig he was 1850/51 Member of the First Chamber of the Saxon parliament.
Work
His principal work is the " comment on the Genesis" (Hall 1838; 2nd edition of Arnold, das. 1871). Further works are treatises on Nineveh ( Leipz. 1845), Ascension ( 1857), Josephus ( 1859-1860 ), Antonius Martyr (1864 ) and among others to the phonology of the Ethiopian.
