Johann Christian Wiegleb

Johann Christian Wiegleb ( born December 21, 1732 in Long Salza, † January 16, 1800 ) was a German naturalist and pharmacist.

Life

Wiegleb learned in Dresden Apotherkerausbildung and subsequently founded in 1759 in his hometown, a pharmacy, a post he held until 1796.

Wiegleb was an influential scientists in the age of Enlightenment. He worked next to the pharmacy with chemical investigations which he published in Lorenz Crell's journal " Chemical Journal". He founded in 1779 the first private educational institution for pharmaceutical training.

Connected is his name with the discovery of oxalic acid.
