Johann Friedrich Alberti

Johann Friedrich Alberti ( born January 11, 1642 Tonning, Schleswig, † June 14, 1710 in Merseburg ) was a German organist and composer.

He received his education in Leipzig with Werner Fabricius and in Dresden at Vincenzo Albrici. He seemed then as organist at Merseburg until his retirement in 1698, due to the paralysis of his right hand due to a stroke.

To his substitutes therefore his pupil Georg Friedrich Kauffmann was appointed his successor as the princely Saxon merseburgerischer court and cathedral organist at the court of the Duke of Saxony and the Merseburg Cathedral was after Alberti's death.

Alberti created chorale preludes and chorale arrangements and various sacred chants.
