Johann Friedrich Peter

Johann Friedrich Peter ( Peter John Frederick ) ( born May 19, 1746 Heerendijk; † July 13, 1813 in Bethlehem ) was an American composer.

Peter immigrated to North America in 1770, where he worked as an organist Bohemian Brethren churches in North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

He composed more than eighty anthems for choir and six string quintets, which are among the oldest works of chamber music in North America.
