Johann Friedrich Wolff

Johann Friedrich Wolff ( * 1778 in Schweinfurt, † March 13, 1806 ) was a German physician, botanist and entomologist. He wrote Commentatio de Lemna. Altdorfii et Norimbergae ( 1801) Icones Cimicum descriptionibus illustratae. Erlangen 1800-1811 as well as some specialized products. Wolff is the author of several genera and species of Hemiptera. His botanical author abbreviation is J.F.Wolff.

The dwarf duckweed carry his honor the generic name Wolffia.
