Johann Georg Ahle

Johann Georg Ahle ( baptized June 12, 1651 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia, † December 2, 1706 ) was a German composer, organist, poet and Protestant church musician.

Life

He has already received early musical training from his father, Johann Rudolph Ahle, his character is also a composer and organist. After the death of his father in 1673, he joined its successor as cantor and organist at the Church of St. Blaise in Mühlhausen. His successor in that office was later Johann Sebastian Bach.

Like his father, he was appointed member of the Council of the city of Mühlhausen.

His compositions is V.A. arias by (among other things he set some of his own poems) as musical reactions of poems and songs, such as by Johann Rist and Philip of Zesen marked. However, a large part of his work is considered lost.

Still in 1744, the geographer and polymath Johann Gottfried Gregorii scored the " kayserlich winning poets" like Johann Sebastian Bach Bach and some students of the best German organists.
