Johann Heinrich Acker

Johann Heinrich Acker ( born August 12, 1647 Naumburg ( Saale), † September 21, 1719 in Gotha ) was a German Protestant theologian and writer.

After attending school in Naumburg and Schulpforta 1669 he began studying at the University of Jena. After he had left her with the title of master and adjunct faculty of philosophy, he was Adjunct 1673 and priest in Hausen near Gotha. With the position of court preacher and superintendent to Blank grove to which he was promoted in 1689, his career reached its peak. In 1717, he laid down his office for health reasons and moved to Gotha, where he died two years later.

Acker wrote numerous philosophical, literary history and church history writings. His most important work is the Historia reformationis ecclesiasticae tempore primitivae ecclesiae ( "History of the Reformation church at the time of the early church ," Jena in 1685 and 1715 ). He often wrote under the pseudonym Melis Sander, after the maiden name of his mother.
