Johann Jacob Tischbein

Johann Jacob Tischbein (* February 21, 1725 in Haina (Kloster ). † 22-23 August 1791 in Lübeck ) was a German painter from the famous family of artists Tischbein, also known as the Lübeck table leg.

Johann Jacob Tischbein was the sixth son of Hainaer Hospital baker Johann Heinrich Tischbein ( 1682-1764 ). He first learned in Kassel the wallpaper painting, but also created paintings. Tischbein married a daughter of the painter Johann Dietrich Lilly. He has worked in Hamburg and from 1775 in Lübeck.

His son Christian Albrecht August Tischbein was also a painter and lithographer. Johann Jacob was the teacher of his nephew Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein, known as " Goethe Tischbein ".
