Johann Jakob Wick

Johann Jakob Wick ( * 1522 in Zurich, † August 14, 1588 ) was a Protestant minister.

Little is known about his parents, his grandfather was Hans Wick Weibel at City Hall. 1533 Wick came as a student in the records kept by Heinrich Bullinger Latin school in the former convent Kappel. After completing his training through theological studies at Tübingen ( 1540) and Marburg, he served as pastor in Zurich - Witikon as well as in the rural community of Egg breeder. 1552, he was pastor hospital in Zurich. In 1557 it rose to second archdeacon on the Grossmünsterplatz and owner of a men's choir benefice. He took these positions until his death.

Received in the historiography he is by Wickiana which is now preserved in the Central Library Zurich; an illustrated manuscript collection on contemporary events, which he put in 24 volumes from 1560 to his death.

Wick appear in them as followers of the Reformation the direction of Ulrich Zwingli. He recorded and illustrated in addition to political and cultural events, but also ghosts and witch burnings.
